Compress image to 200 KB

Compress JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC photos to under 200 KB on your device. Good quality for job portals, listings, blogs and email. No upload.

Runs on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.

200 KB gives you a crisp 1200 to 1600 pixel photo, which is why it is the default cap on many job portals, real-estate and marketplace listings and most CMS media libraries.

The widget is preset to 200 KB. Batch up to 50 photos, press Compress, download all.

What to expect

Most phone photos reach 200 KB at 80 percent quality and about 1400 pixels on the long side, with no visible loss on a laptop screen.

Images with large flat areas, such as screenshots of apps, often land well under the limit at full size.

Tips

  • For web pages, 200 KB and a Max side of 1600 is a good default for hero images; 100 KB for anything smaller.
  • Use WebP instead when the site accepts it: PNG to WebP on this site gives the same quality at two thirds of the size.
  • Compress one photo first and look at it before running a whole batch.

Questions

How much quality is lost at 200 KB?

Very little. The tool stops lowering quality as soon as the file fits, so a photo that fits at 85 percent is saved at 85 percent.

Can I keep the original pixel size?

Usually yes at 200 KB. If the source is extremely large, for example a 48-megapixel shot, the long side is reduced until the file fits.

What happens to transparent PNGs?

Target mode saves JPG, so transparent areas become white. Keep PNG in By quality mode at 95 percent if transparency matters.

Does it work offline?

Once the page has loaded, yes. The compression code runs in the browser and needs no connection.
