Video to GIF

Turn a clip from any MP4, WebM or AVI into a GIF on your device. Choose start, length, width and frame rate. No upload, no watermark.

Runs on your device. Nothing is sent to a server. The video engine (31 MB) downloads once and is cached.

How it works

Drop a video, set where the clip starts and how long it runs (up to 15 seconds), pick a width and frame rate, then Make GIF. A palette is generated from your clip so colours stay clean.

GIFs grow fast: 480 px wide at 12 frames per second for 5 seconds is usually 2 to 4 MB. Go to 320 px and 10 fps for chat apps, 640 px for presentations.

Questions

Why is my GIF large?

GIF is an old format with no real compression. Shorter clips, smaller width and fewer frames per second are the only levers. For sharing on the web, a short MP4 from the video compressor is far smaller.

Why does the first run take long?

The video engine, about 31 MB, downloads once and is then cached by your browser. The conversion itself takes a few seconds for a short clip.

Can I use an iPhone MOV file?

Most MOV files are MP4 inside and work. If one is refused, record or export as MP4.
