1 MB is the upload ceiling on many forums, older CMS installations, document portals and e-mail gateways. Modern phones produce 3 to 8 MB photos, so most need to shrink by about three quarters.

The widget is preset to 1 MB. In practice the full pixel size is kept and quality stays above 85 percent.

## What to expect

At 1 MB there is no visible loss for any phone photo. The tool mostly re-encodes at 88 to 92 percent and keeps the dimensions.

Very large panoramas or 48-megapixel images may be reduced in pixel size slightly; the result is still larger than any screen.

## Tips

- If you need several files under a shared total, for example 5 MB for the whole form, compress each to 500 KB instead.
- Set Max side 4000 for panoramas so the tool does not try unnecessary quality steps.
- Download all as a batch and keep the originals in your gallery.

## Questions

### Is 1 MB small enough for e-mail?

Yes. Ten photos at 1 MB fit under every common attachment limit, including the 25 MB cap of Gmail and Outlook.

### Does 1 MB keep print quality?

For prints up to A4 or 8 × 10 inches, yes, as long as the pixel size is kept, which it is at this target.

### Can I compress a PNG to 1 MB and keep it PNG?

Use By quality mode with 95 percent or more to keep PNG. Target mode writes JPG, which is smaller.

### How fast is it on a phone?

About one second per photo. Everything runs locally, so there is no waiting for an upload or a download.
